A house fire last week in the 5000 block of Indian Valley Road is under further investigation, according to a press release from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.

North Shelby Fire and Rescue responded to the scene Sept. 22 to investigate a fire alarm. The fire was quickly extinguished, according to the press release.

“Sheriff’s deputies who responded to the scene with the fire department determined that the home had been burglarized as well,” the press release stated.

Investigators from the sheriff’s office and state fire marshal’s office were called to the home, which was unoccupied at the time of the fire, to investigate the burglary and fire.

“Evidence collected from the scene is being examined and the fire is under further investigation,” the press release read.
