Avengance was the main thing on the Chelsea Hornets&8217; minds when they found out Friday night that they received the wild card and a chance to play in the Metro Tournament B Division.
&8220;We had a little anger built up,&8221; forward Zac Yow said.
The Hornets fell 2-0 on Thursday to Clay-Chalkville and used the loss to fuel their offensive attack through the remainder of the tournament. After allowing two goals in the final two minutes of the Thursday afternoon match, the Hornets bounced back to shutout Shades Mountain Christian, 5-0 on later in the day and defeat Pelham, 1-0, in the semifinal Saturday morning to face Clay-Chalkville again Saturday night.
The rematch was a scoreless battle for just over 44 minutes, before Yow netted the golden goal with 20 seconds to play in the first overtime period to win 1-0.
&8220;As soon as I saw the ball go in I thought, &8216;we just won that game; we won Metros.&8217;
We were in awe,&8221; Yow said.
Chelsea (15-4-1) traveled to Moody for a Class 5A, Section 4 match last night after defeating Moody 6-0 at home on Monday.
They travel to Parker on Thursday before hosting Briarwood Christian on Tuesday
