Joseph M. Arledge, 78, of Montevallo, passed away Friday, March 30, 2007. Arledge was a lifetime employee of Commercial Printing Company Inc.

His faithful career exceeded 60 years, during which he was elected President and later became Chairman of the Board and owner of what is now a family-owned business. Arledge was a past board member of Shelby Baptist Medical Center, a former member of the Board of Directors of The Printing Industry Association of the South and a former member of the University of Montevallo Foundation Board. Arledge was a member of the Central Lodge #70 of Accepted Masons of Montevallo, and a life-long member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Willie Thomas and Naomi Arledge; and his brother and sister, E.G. and Rachael. He is survived by Betty Moore Arledge, his wife of 58 years; sons, Steve (Mary) Arledge and Tommy (Kim) Arledge; grandchildren, Kimberly Arledge Fridy, Bryan Arledge, Virginia Arledge Shanks and Daniel Arledge; three great-grandchildren, Joey, Zac and Jack; two brothers, Hollis Arledge and Bill Arledge; four sisters, Lillian Williams, Hazel O’Neal, Peggy Scott and Shirley Jones; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Joe, as he is known by many, will be cherished and greatly missed by an abundance of employees and friends. Visitation was held Monday, April 2 from 5-7 p.m. at Ridout’s Southern Heritage Funeral Home, Pelham. The funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 3 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home’s chapel. A private family burial was held at Moore’s Cemetery near the Arledge farm.
