Most people wouldn&8217;t consider a hospital a very romantic place to get married.
But for Doris Erwin and Tom Tinney, Shelby Baptist Medical Center made perfect sense.
The two are volunteers with Shelby Baptist&8217;s auxiliary. She, a 72-year-old from Alabaster, works at the information desk on Thursdays. He, a 75-year-old from Pelham, works five days a week at the supply station.
The two met back in March, while on lunch breaks at the hospital.
&8220;Neither one of us were looking for a spouse. It proves you can still find love, even at our age,&8221; said Erwin. &8220;God just put us in each others&8217; paths.&8221;
The two chose to get married last Wednesday at the hospital&8217;s new prayer garden, which they helped fund and build, along with other hospital volunteers. Hospital chaplain Scoot Boeing presided over the ceremony.
The couple plans to live in Pelham and stay active at Shelby Baptist
