The funeral service for Barbara Smith, 77, of Wilsonville was held Saturday, June 2, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Fourmile Baptist Church. The Rev. Gary Jones presided. Burial followed in Childersburg City Cemetery.

Smith was born the eighth child of Jarrett Vick and Evelyn Thredgill as Barbara Dean Vick on Dec. 12, 1929, and passed away Thursday, May 31 at her residence in the Fourmile Community in Wilsonville.

She married John P. Franklin in 1953 and had seven children. She was preceded in death by her husband in August 1962. She reared her children alone until 1975 when she wed Edward Neal Smith. They were together more than 30 years until his death in 2005.

Smith was also preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers and sisters, two spouses, three children and one grandchild. She was a lifelong member of Fourmile Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, Robert (Dianne) Franklin, Sonia (Mike) Liveoak, Jeannine (Dale) Kelly, Noreene (Larry) Billado; grandchildren, Christa (Ruston) Johnson, Rhiannon (Eric) Fulton, John Liveoak, Jeremy (Sarah) Smith, Brandon (Amanda) Franklin, Laura (Wesley) Wilson, Aaron Billado, Travis Kelly; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Jackie (Charles) Robinson, Ruby (Oscar) Robinson and nieces, nephews, family and friends
