Oak Mountain team scores well in soils

PELHAM – A five-member team from Oak Mountain High School placed in the top 15 during the 2007 Canon Envirothon Competition in Geneva, N.Y. Out of 53 teams from throughout the United States and Canada, the Oak Mountain team had the second-highest score on soils testing and scored seventh on the orals presentation for an overall finish of 13th place.

Team members are Michael Dewar, Scott Gray, Emily Haines, Chris Williamson and Jacqueline Koncsol; advisers are Tim Evans and Jennie Gandy. The team was sponsored by Legacy Inc. Partners in Environmental Education in Montgomery. The theme of this year’s competition was Alternative/Renewable Energy
