The city of Alabaster will be hosting a community yard sale Saturday, May 15 at Buck Creek Park from 8 a.m.-noon.
Parks and Recreation Director Ricky Nance said 43 of the 50 booths have been reserved, but anyone wanting to fill the remaining slots should call 664-6840.
Booths are $10 apiece, and that includes a 20-by-20-foot space with advertising. No checks will be accepted.
Nance said the community yard sale is just another way the Parks and Recreation Department can provide activities for those who do not have children playing sports.
“Sports, baseball and soccer is not everybody’s cup of tea,” Nance said. “Recreation to you might not be the same as recreation to me. Not everybody’s idea of recreation is sports.”
Nance also said the city moved the yard sale from Veterans Park to Buck Creek Park, located at 701 Sixth Ave. S., because it is more centrally located in the city.
Vendors can start setting up at 6 a.m., and the Hannah Home will be on site to pick up anything that is left behind.
“It’s just an added benefit,” Nance said of the Hannah Home pitching in to take away what’s left over. “It’s just a win-win situation.”
