Seven Shelby County baseball players named to East-West game

Seven high school baseball stars from Shelby County will participate in an Alabama Lions Sight Conservation East-West All-Star Classic tryout session Saturday, May 22 at Chilton County High School’s Jack Hayes Stadium in Clanton.
Braten Dill, Kevin McNorton and Chad King of Shelby County High School, along with Trent Posey, Zac Isbell, Adam Winterbottom and Scotty Reneau of Calera, will participate in the two six-inning games, which will help determine the makeup of the Central Alabama squad June 5-6 at the two-day All-Star Classic at Samford University’s Joe Lee Griffin Stadium.
All seven players will play for the West team, which will have Calera coach Stephen Floyd serving as one of four coaches.
The first game will begin at 1 p.m. May 22. Seven players from the doubleheader will be selected to participate in a tryout for the Central Alabama squad, which will be made up of 16 graduating seniors.
The Alabama Lions Sight Conservation group holds the East-West Classic annually to help provide eye care for indigent patients.
