Alabama Telco breaks ground

CHELSEA – Alabama Telco Credit Union broke ground Jan. 28 for its new Chelsea location on U.S. Highway 20. The branch marks the credit union’s 15th location in the state and the eighth Birmingham location.
Along with several Alabama Telco employees, attendees at the groundbreaking included the following South Shelby County Chamber Members: Donald Shirley, Rod Burchell, Alicia Johnson, Scott Weygand, Mary Forgo, Justin Forgo, Shelby County Commissioner Robbie Hayes and Executive Director Stacey Walkup.
Chelsea Mayor Earl Niven gave the invocation and performed the ceremonial tossing of the dirt. Alabama Telco’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Linda Cencula, and Chairman of the Board, Gary Cannady, shared the credit union’s excitement for becoming a part of the Chelsea community.
The new branch will better serve current members in the area, as well as reach out to new ones. It will feature a drive-thru and ATM. The grand opening is scheduled for summer 2008
