Cary Baxter struck out six batters and earned his first victory of the season as the Oak Mountain Eagles trounced the Mountain Brook Spartans for the Birmingham Metro tournament victory Monday, 12-3.Baxter was also the leading hitter for the Eagles, blasting a two-run home run in the third inning to give Oak Mountain a three-run lead.Oak Mountain scored in five of the first six innings.The Eagles (7-7) will take on Hoover today.

Thompson 13, Hoover 3: Trent Franklin and Corey Kimbrel scored two runs and had two RBIs apiece for Thompson in the victory over Hoover on Monday, 13-3.

The Warriors scored eight runs in the third inning and never looked back as they cruised to the win.Franklin finished 2-for-3 with a double, while Kimbrel was a perfect 4-for-4.

Pelham 4, Hewitt-Trussville 1: Wes Rich earned his fourth win of the season Monday, throwing a complete game to lead Pelham to victory over the Hewitt-Trussville Huskies, 4-1. Rich struck out nine batters in the win.Andrew Bishop was the leading hitter for the Panthers with three runs scored and two stolen bases.

Clay-Chalkville 4, Spain Park 0:Josh Magette went the distance for the Spain Park Jaguars Monday, but it wasn’t enough as the Clay-Chalkville Cougars win a shutout, 4-0.

Shelby County 6, Jemison: The Shelby County Wildcats came from behind in the seventh inning Friday, scoring five runs off two home runs to take the win over Jemison, 6-4.Graham Davis started the inning off with a homerun blast, and then Justin Blankenship gave the Wildcats the lead for good with a three-run shot.Jemison fought back to score two runs in the bottom half of the inning, but it wasn’t enough as Shelby County’s Braton Dill closed out the game for the win.Dill struck out eight batters in four inning work.Offensively for the Wildcats, Davis was 2-for-4, Wesley Howard was 2-for-5 and Blankenship was 1-for-3 with three RBIs.

Springwood 6-10, Coosa Valley 1-2: The Coosa Valley dropped a double-header to Springwood on Monday, 6-1 and 10-2.In the first game, Chase Lacy got the Rebels’ only hit, but errors plagued Coosa Valley’s defense.J.B. Ripley struck out 10 batters in the loss.In the second game, Ripley was 3-for-3, Bud Bliss was 2-for-3 and Whit Lovelady was 2-for-4. Jake Milam picked up the loss
