Nellie Mae Walker born Oct. 1, 1933, passed away at the age of 74 on Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at 12:32 p.m.

Daughter of the late Auburn and Berta Martin of Alabaster, mother to Darlene (Robert) McManus of Alabaster and the late Earlene Martin, grandmother to Robert (Kim) McManus Jr. of Thorsby, Lacrisha (Jon) Jenkins of Calera, nanny to three great-grandchildren Taylor, Peyton and Grayson McManus of Thorsby.

Visitation services were held at Charter Funeral Home in Calera on Thursday, April 3 from 5-6 p.m. for family, 6-8 p.m. for friends.

Funeral services were at Charter Funeral Home beginning at 11 a.m. Friday, April 4 followed by a Committal Service at Elliottsville Cemetery in Alabaster. Services were officiated by Senior Adult Minister Mike Byars.

Pall bearers were Vance White, Jim Walker, Charles Walker, Eddie Bentley, Scottie Houston and Kim Harris, along with honorary pall bearer Butch White.

Mother, mam-maw, nanny and most of all a friend, you are loved greatly and will be missed deeply, but we know you will always be with us in our hearts, minds and cherished memories — until we see each other again remember, “We love you,” your family.

Arrangements were under the direction of Charter Funeral Home in Calera.
