UM professors receive honors

Sherry Ford, assistant professor of communication studies at the University of Montevallo, has been named director of UM’s University Honors Program for the 2008-2009 academic year.
Michelle Duran-McLure, assistant professor of art at the University of Montevallo, has had her essay, “Portals and pilgrims in late-medieval Siena,” published in the book “The Art, Science, and Technology of Medieval Travel” (Ashgate 2008). The book is the sixth in the AVISTA series and explores medieval travel from a variety of interdisciplinary perspectives, placing the physical practice of transportation into the larger context of medieval thought about the world and its meaning.
David Callaghan, associate professor of theater and chair of the department of communication arts at the University of Montevallo, recently published an article on The Living Theatre’s return to New York City in the March 2008 issue of “American Theatre” magazine. The Living Theatre is an experimental company, and the article explores the impact of their new theater in Manhattan after a decade’s residency in Italy. This is Callaghan’s fifth article on The Living Theatre after working with them in New York City during the early 1990s
