Michelle Holdbrooks of Thompson High School was recently awarded a state grant for $2,500 to pursue her National Board Certification.

Holdbrooks has taught chemistry at Thompson for six years and has been instrumental in the development of inquiry-based activities that can be used to introduce, instruct or evaluate chemistry concepts.

She has presented at Science in Motion workshops, the Alabama Science Teachers Association conference and the National Science Teachers Association conference.

Holdbrooks has also served as a mentor for new teachers and for Phase II students from the University of Montevallo
