Carl B. Nichols

Funeral service for Carl Nichols, age 83, of Chelsea, will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 24, 2008, at Liberty Baptist Church with Dr. Tim Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the church.
Mr. Nichols, who passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at his home, was born Oct. 2, 1924, in Birmingham.
Mr. Nichols was a longtime builder in the Chelsea area.
He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and served in the Pacific Theater of World War II in Australia and New Guinea with the 17th Station Hospital.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Barney and Lucille Nichols.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Shaw Nichols; children, W. David (Judy) Nichols, Esq., Gene (Alison) Nichols and Debra (Larry) Griffith; grandsons, Matthew Nichols, Richard Griffith, Joe Nichols, Jack Nichols, Evan Hibbard and Aron Hibbard; granddaughters, Kelly Hershey, Esq. and Leigh Schlarb;
brothers, Bill (Wanda) Nichols and Grady (Suzanne) Nichols; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
