The Pea Ridge Volunteer Fire Department will receive a $39,900 grant from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, part of the Department of Homeland Security, said U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions in a press release.
The money will help the fire department purchase a new brush truck to help fight brush fires in the area.
“Firefighters risk their lives to protect their community, and it’s critical we keep their equipment up-to-date, making sure they have the tools they need to protect the public,” Sessions said.
Sessions announced July 1 that fire departments across the state will receive more than $700,000 in grants.
Last year, Alabama fire departments were awarded more than $19 million in grants.
