VINCENT – During the July 19 town council meeting, Vincent Mayor Ray McAllister introduced Vincent’s newest full-time police officer to the council and community.

Bryan Gerald has served as a police officer on reserve for the town of Vincent for the past four years, but after the town was awarded a grant, Gerald was hired for full-time service a month ago.

“I go where I’m called and do what I’m supposed to do,” Gerald said when asked about his intentions as a Vincent police officer.

In other news:

-The Town of Vincent Town Council will hold a public hearing on Aug. 16 at 6 p.m. at Town Hall to address public comments on amendments to the 1999 subdivision regulations. Copies of the regulations are posted in Town Hall, Vincent Public Library, Vincent Frontier Bank and Vincent Water Board.

-The council approved the reappointment of Barbara Rounds and Ann Smith to the library board.

-Jim Phillips, landscape architect with Shelby County, will meet with town officials to coordinate a five- and 10-year plan for the future of the town’s park. The town purchased 2.9 acres of land adjoining the park for expansion.
