Congressman Spencer Bachus (R-Ala.) will join Helena residents at a town hall meeting Aug. 5 at 6:30 p.m. at Helena City Hall, said Mayor Sonny Penhale.

“He just came home, and he wants to let us know about everything going on in Washington and see if we have any questions about anything going on,” Penhale said.

Penhale said he invited Bachus to visit Helena several months ago because the congressman had made several trips to other Alabama cities. The town hall meeting has been planned for about two weeks now, he said.

“We’re inviting everybody, the whole city and anybody who wants to come,” he said.

Penhale said Bachus would discuss current government legislation as well as take questions from the audience.

“We just want to have a big crowd and show we support him. He looks out for us really well,” Penhale said. “We need help here, and we need his visit here.”
