DeWayne Peevy, the Director of Media Relations for the Southeastern Conference, was named Associate Athletics Director for Media Relations at the University of Kentucky on Monday.

Peevy, an Alabaster resident, will oversee the public relations efforts for the entire athletics department and will serve as the primary contact for the UK men’s basketball program.

He spent the last eight years at the SEC, where he served as the media director of the SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament. He currently serves on the NCAA Division-I Men’s Basketball Final Four Media Coordination Committee.

Before joining the SEC, Peevy, a 1996 graduate of the University of Montevallo, worked as the assistant sports information director at the Gulf South Conference and sports information director at Montevallo.
