MONTGOMERY – Two of Thompson’s All-Americans may have been up for the same award, but each walked out of the Alabama Sports Writers Association’s Mr. Football Banquet with special honors.

Thompson safety Anquon Fegans and quarterback Trent Seaborn received spots on the Super All-State Team when the list was announced by the ASWA on Tuesday, Jan. 28 following its awards banquet at the Renaissance Montgomery Hotel.

The Super All-State Team recognizes the top 12 players regardless of a school’s classification. It is each of their first selections to the team.

The pair were joined by Saraland’s KJ Lacey, Elba’s Alvin Henderson, Jackson’s Landon Duckworth and EJ Crowell, Parker’s Na’eem Offord and Jourdin Crawford, Cherokee County’s Tae Diamond, Russellville’s Cam Phinizee, Tuscaloosa Academy’s Preston Lancaster and St. Michael Catholic’s Gunner Rivers.

Fegans and Seaborn both entered the day up for Class 7A Back of the Year alongside Central-Phenix City wide receiver Daylyn Upshaw, and Fegans beat out both for the award to cap his Warriors career.

In addition to Class 7A Back of the Year, which he was a finalist for the third-consecutive season for, Fegans was a MaxPreps All-American First Team member for the third-straight year, an Under Armour All-American and Shelby County Player of the Year.

The Auburn signee also earned selections to the Alabama All-Star team for the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic and Class 7A All-State and All-County First Teams.

Fegans earned six interceptions as a senior along with 80 tackles, seven pass deflections, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and three defensive touchdowns.

As for Seaborn, he was also named a MaxPreps All-American First Team selection for the second-straight season in addition to spots on the Class 7A All-State First Team and All-County Second Team.

After winning MaxPreps National Freshman of the Year in 2023, Seaborn threw for 2,672 yards, 26 passing touchdowns and seven interceptions while ending the year with a 64.2 percent completion rate with a brand-new receiving corps.

The sophomore Seaborn is still uncommitted but the four-star quarterback has offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss, Oregon and Tennessee among others.

Both Fegans and Seaborn played key roles in Thompson winning its fifth state championship in the last six years and sixth in school history. The championship was Fegans’ third and Seaborn’s second as starters.

Elsewhere at the awards banquet, Spain Park wide receiver Corey Barber and Vincent linebacker Grayson Gulde fell short in their respective awards.

Barber lost Class 6A Back of the Year to eventual Mr. Football Lacey, and Gulde lost Class 2A Lineman of the Year to Highland Home’s Jakaleb Faulk, an Auburn University signee.
