Thompson’s Anquon Fegans, Jared Smith star in Under Armour All-American Game

DeLAND, Fla. – Two of Thompson’s finest suited up for one last time as high schoolers as they took the national stage at the Under Armour All-American Game.
Anquon Fegans and Jared Smith represented the Warriors as All-Americans at the game, which took place on Thursday, Jan. 2 at Stetson University.
Fegans and Smith were part of Team Unstoppable, which lost to Team Icon 31-19 in the 17th edition of the game. The showcase aired on ESPN2, giving the pair of Auburn signees a chance to show their skills to a nationwide audience.
Fegans finished the game with two tackles, including one solo tackle, as well as a pass breakup while guarding some of the nation’s premier wide receivers. Smith did not record any stats in the game.
Fegans was nominated for Class 7A Back of the Year for the third straight season. He has already earned the Shelby County Player of the Year award as well as MaxPreps All-American, All-State First Team, All-County First Team honors.
The senior safety finished with six interceptions, 80 tackles, seven pass deflections, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries as well as three defensive touchdowns.
Smith is up for Class 7A Lineman of the Year as a finalist and earned First Team selections for the Class 7A All-State and All-County teams as well as MaxPreps All-American Second Team honors.
In his lone season with the Warriors, the senior edge rusher racked up 87 tackles, a county-high 8.5 sacks and five tackles for loss along with 23 quarterback hurries, four pass breakups and an interception.
Fegans and Smith weren’t the only Alabama representatives at the game as Saraland quarterback and Texas signee KJ Lacey, Parker defensive back and Oregon signee Na’eem Offord and Elba running back and Auburn signee Alvin Henderson were also part of Team Unstoppable.
Team Icon had two Alabama players in Theodore offensive lineman and Alabama commit Micah DeBose and Carver-Montgomery wide receiver and Ohio State signee Anthony Rogers.
Now, both Fegans and Smith will take their talents to the Plains to play for the Auburn Tigers this coming fall in the SEC.
