ALABASTER – Alabaster residents perused through a variety of items from more than 100 vendors that were spread across Veterans Park during the city’s annual fall citywide yard sale.

Alabaster’s Veterans Park was consistently crowded from 8 a.m. to noon on Nov. 16 as residents shopped from 118 vendors during the citywide yard sale at 1306 Highway 119.

“It was a really good success,” said Morgan Lawley, manager of Alabaster’s community programs. “It was the biggest crowd that we’ve had since we started doing it.”

Each year, the city of Alabaster holds two citywide yard sales with one held in the spring and one set for the fall.

“It’s not only a way to clean out around the house but also a way to meet new friends,” Lawley said.

During the fall yard sale, a selection of vendors were set up across Veterans Park with tables offering a variety of items for sale, including housewares, tools, books, home media, clothes, appliances, furniture and more.

Lawley described the event as “118 yard sales in one location” and said there was something to appeal to all ages.

“The weather was great, and we really did have a good turnout,” Lawley said. “Overall it was just a good, fun, free, family-friendly event.”

The fall yard sale marked the second time the city utilized Veterans Park as the event’s venue. Placing the event at the park made it possible for vendors to drive directly to their booths to unload items. The venue also provided additional parking and more room for booths than previous locations.

After the event concluded, various charities stopped by to receive any unwanted items from sellers to be donated to help those in need.

Alabaster Public Relations Manager Neal Wagner expressed his appreciation to the city’s parks and recreation department for its efforts in hosting the event for residents.

“We’re really thankful for parks and rec for all the work they put into that every year,” Wagner said. “It’s an event that the community really, really enjoys, so we appreciate them for showing up and making the event a success and for everyone who worked to organize that and make it such a good event every year.”
