ALABASTER — The Alabaster Beautification Board is gearing up for the city’s 9th year of featuring illuminated homes throughout the city. This year’s tour will begin Sunday, Dec. 1.

“Our wish is for everyone to experience the love and joy of being with family, friends and loved ones while enjoying Alabaster’s Tour of Lights,” said Marie Jordan, president of the Alabaster Beautification Board.

The Alabaster Beautification Board will present the Alabaster Tour of Lights, which features a list homes that are decorated with various festive light displays.

Jordan said the tour usually averages about 25 homes, but she hopes more will sign-up this year.

“We want to welcome as many people as possible to add their homes to our map,” Jordan said. “There are so many homes in the city that are decorated beautifully, so we hope to add many more spots to our map this year.”

For those interested in signing up to be a tour participant, the deadline is Saturday, Nov. 23. All light displays must be up and running by Dec. 1 with lights on from 5:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. each night for judging.

Each home participating in the event will be marked on a map on Cityofalabaster.com. Jordan said this year, anyone who participates in the tour will receive a sign to place in their yard indicating they are part of the tour.

Even those that aren’t able to make their way out to follow the map can join in on viewing the homes. Jordan said that a video of the homes will be posted to the Christmas Lights of Alabaster Facebook page at Facebook.com/AlabasterLights.

“We hope families will enjoy this tradition of just slowing down a bit at Christmas and enjoying the time together as a family,” Jordan said.
