INDIAN SPRINGS – Students graduating from an Alabama high school or home school are eligible to apply for the Smith Foundation Scholarship. The recipients will be selected for their volunteer work, assistance to family or community service, and participation in school academics and activities.

A minimum GPA of C+ and ACT or SAT test is required. Financial need and overcoming hardship, either physical, emotional, family issues demonstrating a determination to obtain a college education and secure employment or continue post graduate education with professional or graduate studies are important factors considered in the selection process.

Traditional Full Smith Scholarships provide up to $20,000 per year in financial assistance at select Alabama universities. Scholarships are renewable if students maintain the required GPA, volunteer work and participation in Foundation provided academic, leadership and cultural programs. Smaller partial scholarships are also awarded to finalist or outstanding applicants.

The Smith Scholarship Foundation, established by the late Mignon C. Smith in 2004 is excited to celebrate 25 years of providing aid to deserving Alabama students. Upon funding it became the largest private scholarship program for Alabama students providing more than 600 scholarships and more than $20 million dollars in aid and support.
