Jon Parker re-elected to Shelby County Commission

Incumbent Jon Parker was re-elected to the Shelby County Commission’s District 3 seat on Tuesday, Nov. 5, successfully earning him a sixth term.

According to vote tallies as of midnight on Tuesday, the incumbent Parker secured 6,085 votes (63.58%). His opponent, Democrat Bobby “CP” Pierson, received 3,468 votes (36.23%).

Parker was first elected to the Shelby County Commission in 2004. Now, Parker approaches the end of 20 years on the Commission as he continues his role for his sixth term.

The Shelby County Commission is a nine-member board that handles tasks such as annually approving the budget, selects county managers and attorneys, examines the monthly check register for government and proprietary funds and considers alcohol permits and licenses.

Parker graduated from Faulkner University with a degree in criminal justice and law enforcement administration. He has previously served as fire marshal for the city of Calera and is an owner of Parker Brothers Heating and Air LLC.
