Manhunt ends in Pelham for Montana man

A police search in a wooded area near the Alabama State Fair ended with the arrest of a Montana man wanted on charges of assault on a police officer and robbery.
Pelham Police and Alabama State Troopers staged a manhunt for Preston Edward Goff, 58, on Monday. At 12:45 p.m., an Alabama State Fair employee contacted police and stated a white male with grey hair and a thin build was seeking employment and had active warrants in Montana.
According to a press-released statement, officers were dispatched to the fair and Goff fled on foot. Pelham Police immediately set up perimeters and an active search for Goff began with assistance from Alabama State Troopers who provided air and ground support.
In addition, the Hoover Police Department provided ground support and the Alabama Prison System provided K-9 support.
The search ended at 4:20 p.m. Goff is now awaiting extradition.
