ALABASTER – Families flocked to Larry Simons Stadium to shop from vendors, eat at food trucks and partake in a variety for activities before sitting down to enjoy live music at Alabaster’s 2024 Fall Fest and Jubilee #4.

Due to ongoing construction on the grounds of Alabaster City Hall while the new amphitheater is being built, the 16th annual Alabaster Fall Fest was held inside Larry Simmons Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Additionally, for the second year in a row, the city decided to combine its Fall Fest with its musical celebration, Jubilee #4, to create a fun day to remember. Fortunately, for the city, it’s planning paid off with a significant amount turnout.

“We had a fantastic turnout at this year’s Fall Fest, both in terms of visitors and vendors/organizations,” Alabaster Public Relations Manager Neal Wagner said. “We appreciate everyone’s patience with the temporary venue and layout for this year’s event.”

During the event, an array of vendors lined the track of Larry Simmons Stadium with more located in the center on the field. Many of the vendor stands were run by children selling a variety of items and handcrafted goods while wearing T-shirts displaying the words “I’m an entrepreneur.”

Additionally, there were inflatables for young children to play on and a selection of food trucks for attendees to eat from.

“Our Parks and Recreation Department did a great job working to organize one of the city’s largest events, and we appreciate everyone who made the Fall Fest a huge success,” Wagner said.

After Fall Fest wrapped up at 3 p.m, festivities continued at Larry Simmons Stadium with the city’s musical celebration, Jubilee #4, which kicked off at 4 p.m.

“Even though we are not in our permanent home at the new amphitheater, we were happy with the turnout and with the fact that we were able to feature two local and regional music acts,” said Jamie Cole, city council member in Alabaster’s Ward 5 and Alabaster Arts Council vice president.

During Jubilee #4, attendees were treated to tunes from Sean “Rockstar” Heninger and the band twelve.

“Both bands were excellent,” Cole said. “We got some great feedback and people really seemed to enjoy it.”

While the amphitheater wasn’t quite ready yet for the musical festivities, Cole shared that the event served as an opportunity to showcase the various upgrades the city has invested into Larry Simmons Stadium.

“While we plan to move the event to the new amphitheater and municipal green from now on, the stadium was a great stand-in for this year and a good opportunity for residents to see it,” Cole said. “Parks and rec did an outstanding job with this event and the Alabaster Arts Council is excited to continue to partner with them on this event.”
