ALABASTER – A group of motorcycles recently left out from Alabaster’s Buck Creek Park for a charitable ride to Pelham that benefitted the organization God Did It Ministries.

God Did It Ministries hosted its fourth annual motorcycle ride on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Buck Creek Park and saw 15 riders participate in this year’s festivities.

“It was good,” said Sanchez Tanniehill, the founder of God Did It Ministries. “Everybody showed up, we had a (few) words of encouragement and we rode to Tannehill Leather Company. Overall, it was a great day.”

After a prayer, the ride departed from Buck Creek Park with a police escort and headed through Montevallo and West Bocton to Tannehill Leather Company where participants relaxed before traveling to the finish line at the Heart of Dixie Harley-Davidson in Pelham. Afterward, several attendees stayed for the Heart of Dixie Harley-Davidson’s bike night activities.

“It was awesome,” Tanniehill said. “It’ll help us (with) Christmas and set us up for next year.”

Proceeds from the event went toward the organization God Did It Ministries which serves the local community in a variety of ways, including helping families in need during the holiday season.

“We provide backpacks for (when students head) back to school and help stroke victims (and) get them different resources,” Tanniehill said.

God Did It Ministries serves the Alabaster area and was founded by Tanniehill, who is an Alabaster native, author and gospel recording artist.

The organization gained its namesake from Tanniehill’s autobiographical work, “God Did It.”  God Did It Ministries partners with other like-minded organizations to serve low income families who are struggling with back-to-school supplies, holiday items and it also helps in emergency situations like in the event of a natural disaster. The organization also provides free groceries to the community.

Now, with the annual motorcycle ride complete, God Did It Ministries is preparing to participate in several community events.

“We’re getting ready for National Night Out with the police and after that, we’re getting geared up for the fall festival in Alabaster,” Tannehill said. “After that we can get geared up for the Alabaster Christmas Parade and then help sponsor a couple of families for Christmas. So, we’ve got a full schedule.”
