Shelby Baptist Medical Center names new CFO, CNO

ALABASTER – On Monday, Aug. 26, Shelby Baptist Medical Center announced the hiring of a new chief nursing officer and chief financial officer.
Marc Nakagawa will serve at the hospital’s new chief financial officer and brings with him more than 20 years of healthcare financial experience.
“I look forward to joining the highly talented team at Shelby,” Nakagawa said. “This hospital and the community surrounding it are special, and I am honored to be a part of it and to have the opportunity to make an impact here.”
Nakagawa served in the role of CFO at five different healthcare facilities during his professional career which has spanned nearly 30 years. Most recently, Nakagawa previously served as the CFO of Palmdale Regional Medical Center in California since 2022.
Nakagawa received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from California State University in 1995 and began his career afterward with his first CFO position in 2003 at Minnie Boswell Memorial Hospital in Greensboro, California.
“Marc’s accomplishments in the healthcare finance world are commendable, and we are excited to bring his influence into our health system at Shelby,” Shelby Baptist CEO Holly Dean said. “He will be an asset in this new role, and we look forward to the continued contributions he will make to our hospital and our surrounding community.”
Shelby Baptist Medical Center also announced that Beth Hock will serve as the hospital’s new chief nursing officer.
“I am thrilled to be joining the talented team at Shelby” Hock said. “This is an outstanding facility and community, and I’m honored to be given the opportunity to make an impact here.”
Hock joins the staff at Shelby Baptist after recently serving as CNO at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula, Montana.
Hock received a nursing degree from Miami University in Ohio and received a master’s in health services administration from Central Michigan University and a Doctor of Nursing Practices in nursing administration degree from the University of Nevada.
