• UAB struggled on defense, ranking 13th-worst in FBS (435.0 yards allowed per game) last season. However, it ranked 18th-best on offense, totaling 449.5 yards per game.
• Despite having a bottom-25 scoring defense that ranked fourth-worst in FBS last season (36.9 points allowed per game), the Blazers had more success on offense, ranking 51st in FBS by putting up 29.9 points per game.
• Offensively, UAB was a top-25 unit in terms of passing yards last season, ranking 18th-best in FBS by putting up 288.9 passing yards per game. It ranked 89th on defense (237.9 passing yards allowed per game).
• The Blazers owned the 63rd-ranked rushing offense last year (160.6 rushing yards per game), and they were worse on the other side of the ball, ranking eighth-worst with 197.1 rushing yards allowed per game.

• Last season Jacob Zeno racked up 3,126 passing yards (260.5 per game) while going 279-for-379 (73.6%) and throwing for 20 touchdowns with nine interceptions. He tacked on 168 rushing yards on 91 carries with four touchdowns.
• A season ago Jermaine Brown Jr. churned out 803 rushing yards (66.9 per game) and scored 12 touchdowns. And he added 41 catches for 416 yards and one receiving TD.
• Last year Tejhaun Palmer reeled in 47 passes for 858 yards (71.5 per game) while scoring seven touchdowns.
• Desmond Little put together an impressive body of work a year ago, notching 6.0 sacks, 5.0 TFL and 30 tackles.
