Shelby County’s Representative Mike Hill currently serves as president of The Energy Council, a national legislative organization comprised of 11 energy-producing states, five Canadian provinces and Venezuela.

The council meets quarterly to discuss and debate the latest issues in energy consumption and production.

In his capacity as president, Hill recently led a delegation to China to discuss energy issues with representatives of their government and has led delegations to Canada for the same purpose. His travels have also taken him to Argentina and Brazil on trade missions where he met with energy ministers in an effort to recruit them to join the council’s efforts. Hill will soon be leading a delegation to Mexico to study energy issues there as well.

Shelby County should be proud that Rep. Hill is a qualified national leader in the important issue of energy policies among legislators.

Hill, a life-long native of Columbiana, has represented Shelby County in the Alabama House of Representatives since 1986. After graduation from Shelby County High School, he received his B.S. degree from Auburn University. He is a deacon at Columbiana First Baptist Church and a life-long member of the Columbiana Kiwanis Club.

Mike and his wife Carol have three children and three grandchildren.
