Sen. April Weaver in recovery after being hit by a vehicle at a crosswalk in Alabaster

ALABASTER – State Sen. April Weaver is recovering after being hit by a vehicle while in a pedestrian crosswalk in front of a grocery store in Alabaster last night.
On the night of Friday, July 12, Weaver was struck by a vehicle while proceeding through a crosswalk in front of a Publix on Highway 119 in Alabaster. The Alabaster Fire Department received a call and were dispatched at approximately 5:40 p.m.
The Alabaster Police Department responded to the scene and Weaver received aid from Alabaster Fire and Rescue as well as RPS Ambulance service and Shelby ER. Weaver sustained minor injuries from the incident and was transported to Shelby Baptist Medical Center.
Weaver was elected to serve Alabama’s 14th district in 2021. She previously served in the House of Representatives from 2010 to 2020—representing the state’s 49th District. Additionally, Weaver was appointed by former President Donald Trump as regional director of the United States Department of Health and Human Services for Region IV where she served from May 2020 to December 2020.
Weaver has 25 years of experience in healthcare administration and previously served as director of operations at Shelby Baptist Medical Center from December 2002 to February 2017.
