ALABASTER – Nicholas Whitfield, 31, known for Nick’s Auto Repair, has been arrested by the Alabaster Police Department on four counts of theft in the first degree after an investigation that was prompted by multiple complaints regarding Whitfield’s business practices.

According to court records on the arrest, Whitfield allegedly committed theft on July 23, 2023 at approximately 8 a.m. in the amount of $7,741.17 from one individual.

Theft of property in the first degree is a class B felony and is punishable by up to 20 years of imprisonment and $30,000 in fines each count.

In a separate instance and according to a civil complaint, Whitfield allegedly owes a plaintiff $17,626 after they paid Whitfield to purchase parts and perform work on a 1955 Chevy Pick-Up. The plaintiff in that case alleges that he had purchased the parts but upon the return of the truck, no work had been performed and no parts were provided.

Whitfield was booked into the Shelby County Jail on no bond on July 2. The investigation is ongoing and more charges may be pending. Those who have any information regarding these cases are encouraged to contact the Alabaster Police Criminal Investigations Division at 205-664-6850.
