Former Oak Mountain star Trey Allen heading to Olympic track and field trials

As the world prepares to come together for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, athletes around the United States are currently competing for the opportunity to represent the country this summer, including one local star.
Former Oak Mountain High School track and field athlete, Trey Allen, will compete in the 2024 United States Track and Field Olympic Team Trials in Eugene, Ore. from June 21-30.
Allen will have his go in the men’s high jump after four stellar seasons with the team, and enters the Trials with a seed mark of 2.22 meters.
A redshirt senior at University of Louisville, he is a six-time All-American, being named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Indoor All-America Second Team for high jump in 2024, and the First Team in 2022 and 2023. He was also a part of the First Team in the outdoor classification in 2022 and 2023, as well as an Honorable Mention in 2021.
Over the course of his college career, Allen has made a name for himself in the ACC, winning the high jump outdoor conference championship in 2022 and 2023, and the indoor championship in 2023. He was an NCAA Indoor Bronze Medalist for the high jump in 2023.
Allen graduated from Oak Mountain High School in 2019 after competing in the high jump and long jump for the Eagles. He was ranked as the No. 1 high jumper during his high school career, won two New Balance National Championships and finished his senior year undefeated.
The qualifiers at the Trials for the high jump will take place on Thursday, June 27 at 8 p.m. ET on Peacock, with the finals being on Sunday, June 30 at 6:30 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.
