TUSCALOOSA – The Thompson Warriors got another chance to compete at one of the nation’s top college football programs and put on a show once again.
Thompson walked away as winners of the Alabama 7-on-7 championship on Wednesday, June 12 at the Crimson Tide’s football complex.
The Warriors defeated a talented field of other high schools to take the title, which was their second in a row after they won the 2023 edition of the tournament last June.
After the tournament, sophomore quarterback Trent Seaborn met with new Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer and offensive coordinator and quarterback coach Nick Sheridan and posted a photo with both on social media.
Seaborn was offered by former coach Nick Saban last year and is one of multiple Thompson players being recruited by the Crimson Tide at the moment. In addition, other Warriors saw their stocks rise at the camp as the summer recruitment season heats up.
Thompson is coming off another successful season in 2024 that saw it reach the Class 7A state championship game for the sixth straight season.
In the process, the Warriors went 11-2 overall and 7-0 in region play to claim the region championship over another loaded region containing top 10 Hewitt-Trussville, Vestavia Hills, Hoover and Spain Park teams.
Thompson then took care of business in the playoffs to reach the title game in Tuscaloosa, defeating Florence, Vestavia Hills and Hewitt-Trussville at home.
The Warriors will look to return to the top of Class 7A with a new-look region including Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa and Prattville and a tough schedule including Georgia’s Grayson, Tennessee’s Lipscomb Academy, Hewitt-Trussville, Vestavia Hills and Clay-Chalkville.
