ALABASTER – In a new addition to Highway 31, P&F Coin Company has opened its doors in Alabaster and offers residents a spot to buy and sell gold, get appraisals and invest in coins.
P&F Coin Company officially opened its doors on Saturday, June 1 at 561 First St. N in Alabaster and offers the community a variety of services with a focus on buying and selling gold and silver.
“It’s a family run business and (we’re) excited to get in the community to offer some investment opportunities for the public at a fair price,” said Justin Peake who runs the business with Matthew Fountain.
Peake said that it feels great to be open and provided insight into his background and history working with coins.
“I ran a coin store in Jasper with my dad from 2010 to about 2018 and then I moved over here to Birmingham, started a family (and) now (I’m) starting this business and excited to do it,” Peake said.
Peake said he felt like there wasn’t a good coin shop between Birmingham and Montgomery and establishing a location in Alabaster is a really good bridge connecting those two locations.
“We feel confident in the location,” Peake said. “We feel confident that people know that we’re there and we get our name out there. We feel like it’s going to be good.”
The business offers the chance for customers to sell old and unwanted jewelry, gold and silver coins, antiques and collectables. Those interested in securing their own collection of coins have a variety of gold and silver ones to choose from that are on display at the business.
According to Peake, P&F Coin Company carries anywhere from 10 to 20 ounces of gold and 1,000 ounces of silver at any one time, depending on the market.
“If we don’t have it, we can get,” Peake said. “We can order it, it’ll be there in three days and you can come pick it up at the store.”
P&F Coin Company also offers appraisals for those interested in discovering the value of an old heirloom or perhaps a collectible piece that they’ve come into contact with.
P&F Coin Company is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
