ACS Superintendent named to inaugural Top 100 Education Influencers list

ALABASTER - Alabaster City Schools Superintendent Dr. Wayne Vickers has been named to District Administration’s Inaugural Top 100 Education Influencers List.
The Top 100 Education Influencers List includes education leaders from across the United States and Vickers is the only superintendent from Alabama to make the inaugural list.
“Being named to the Inaugural Top 100 Education Influencers List is truly an honor,” Vickers said. “Making a difference in the lives of students has always been my passion, and I’m humbled to be named among some of the country’s best educators.”
According to a release by ACS, the accolade of being named a Top 100 Education Influencer reflects Vickers’ exceptional contributions, innovative approaches and the inspiration he provides to educators and students alike. The honor also highlights his work with educators around the U.S. who collectively shape the future of education.
“This prestigious recognition is a testament to your profound impact and unwavering dedication to the field of education,” District Administration said in bestowing the honor upon Vickers. “Your nomination came from the very peers who admire and respect your work, and our esteemed committee of advisors rigorously reviewed each nomination to ensure only the most deserving individuals were selected.”
Vickers description in The Top 100 Education Influencers credits his contributions toward multiple capital projects across the state, including the construction of a new school, classroom additions and athletic complexes.
Vickers’ expansive 34-year education career includes classroom teaching, school administration, state-level posts, and three services as superintendendent of a school system, including Saraland City Schools and Demopolis City Schools. In addition, Vickers has background experience with Birmingham City Schools, St. Clair County Schools, Tuscaloosa City Schools, Tuscaloosa County Schools, Coffee County Schools and the Kentucky Department of Education.
Vickers has won numerous awards for his work in education and serves on multiple boards including the School Superintendents of Alabama and the Executive Board for the School Superintendents Association.
Vickers continues to serve more than 6,000 students across Alabaster City Schools alongside the district’s board of education after being introduced as the school system’s first superintendent in July 2013.
District Administration’s Top 100 Education Influencers is planned to serve as an annual feature and will continue to celebrate educators who continually push the boundaries and set new standards in education.
