CHELSEA -The Chelsea Community Center is set to host its annual Spring Craft Fair on Saturday, April 27.
The event will be inside the community center, utilizing both gyms, an activity room and the dining hall.
This year’s annual Spring Craft Fair is expected to be bigger than ever before. With more than 50 vendors lined up, they are expecting at least 400 people to walk through the doors throughout the day.
Programs Director Jane Anne Mueller said that the event is aimed to build community while giving vendors the opportunity to showcase their creations.
“What I’ve found over the years is that people will come to shop, and they’ll run into others they haven’t seen in a while,” Muellre said. “For me it’s kind of connecting our community, just getting out and doing something very low-key.”
The craft fair is an indoor event, so it’s able to happen rain or shine. Each vendor will have a 10 by 10 booth, and they will be scattered throughout the venue. Outside, there will be four to five food trucks for anyone in attendance to stop for breakfast or lunch.
Doors will open at 9 a.m. and close around 2 p.m., and there are no admission fees. There will be a variety of featured vendors from baked goods and treats to handmade items like jewelry and candles.
Mueller said she is excited to see the vendor booths and turnout for the event after working on everything behind the scenes.
“It’s a lot of work,” said Mueller. “I had to spread everyone out, so I’ve spent a lot of time getting the layout set up. Getting all of the work done ahead of time allows for an easier set-up time.”
The vendors will be there as early as 7 a.m. to have time to unload and fix their booths. Mueller did note that after unloading, vendors should park across the street to allow room for people in attendance to park closer to the building.
