BIRMINGHAM – The indoor track and field season hit its second week of competitions with the Magic City Invitational at the Birmingham Crossplex on Saturday, Dec. 2, and multiple area competitors earned wins in the early season competition.

The meet was split into two divisions, with Chelsea, Pelham, Helena and Shelby County competing in the first set of finals and Thompson and Calera participating in the second set of finals.

Helena’s Aspen Warren won the first boys 800-meter run final with a time of 2:00.78, while Jacob Horton of Pelham finished seventh with a time of 2:10.39.

Thompson’s Bradley Franklin won the second boys 60-meter hurdles final with a time of 7.71 seconds. In the first final, Pelham’s Anthony Sanders came in fourth with a time of 9.00 seconds and Chelsea’s Connor Burley finished in fifth with a time of 9.70 seconds.

The first boys pole vault final saw Helena’s Michael Sestili win after clearing a mark of 13-00.00. Chelsea’s Wyatt Irvin came in third after making it to a height of 10-06.00. Thompson’s Greyson Horton finished in fourth in the second final by clearing a height of 13-00.00.

Pelham’s Tyler Mason won the first boys shot put final with a throw of 47-10.00, just over three feet further than his opponents.

Calera’s Jordon Bray won the second girls 800-meter run finals with a time of 2:23.32. In the first final, Janelle Ramos of Pelham came in fifth with a time of 2:38.29.

In the girls shot put finals, Thompson’s Akasha Dudley took first place with a winning throw of 38-03.00. Her Warriors teammate Alaura Myers came in seventh with a mark of 29-08.00, and Pelham’s Faith Medders finished in tenth place in the first final with a throw that went 28-06.00.

In the first boys 60-meter dash final, Chelsea’s Brandon Sims came in second with a time of 7.09 seconds. Pelham’s William McGough finished in fourth with a time of 7.13 seconds, Eryk Brown of Chelsea came in fifth with a time of 7.14 seconds, Javiion Mitchell finished eighth with a time of 7.29 seconds and Pelham’s Jayden Hayes came in 10th with a time of 7.31 seconds.

The second final saw Franklin finish in fourth place with a time of 7.01 seconds.

In the first boys 4×200-meter relay final, Chelsea came in second place with a time of 1:31.99 and Pelham finished in third with a time of 1:33.33. In the second final, Calera came in ninth with a time of 1:34.75.

The first boys 4×400-meter relay final saw Chelsea come in second with a time of 3:42.35 and Pelham finish eighth with a time of 3:51.43. In the second final, Calera came in third behind a time of 3:34.59.

For Helena in the first boys 3200-meter run final, Drew Cook came in second with a time of 10:22.58 and Camp Herndon finished 10th with a time of 11:05.42.

The girls pole vault final saw Chelsea’s Alana McCulla come in second place with a throw that went 10-06.00. Abigail Parsons of Helena finished fifth with a mark of 9-00.00.

Chelsea finished in second place in the first girls 4×200-meter relay final with a time of 1:49.94 and third place in the first girls 4×400-meter relay final with a time of 4:28.05.

Pelham came in third place in the first girls 4×800-meter relay final with a time of 11:54.28.

Chelsea’s Owen Key came in third in the first boys 400-meter dash final with a time of 53.07 seconds, and in the second final, Calera’s Jaden King finished third with a time of 50.90 seconds and Thompson’s Curtis Hill came in ninth with a time of 51.56 seconds.

Warren came in third in the first boys 1600-meter run final with a time of 4:33.92.

For Chelsea in the first boys long jump finals, Brandon Sims came in third with a mark of 20-01.75 and Owen Key finished in eighth place with a jump of 17-11.50.

In the first boys triple jump finals, Chelsea’s Raymond Bridgeman came in third with a distance of 39-02.75 and Jeremiah Sumlin of the Hornets finished sixth with a time of 37-04.25. The second final saw Calera’s Braxton Brooks come in seventh with a mark of 37-11.00.

Pelham’s Kennedy Lyles came in third in the first girls long jump final after a jump of 15-03.00, while Howard finished seventh with a mark of 15-00.00. Thompson’s Gracie Baldwin came in seventh in the second final after completing a jump of 15-07.25.

In the first girls triple jump final, Howard finished third with a mark of 32-11.25.

In the boys 4×800 meter relay finals, Pelham finished fourth with a time of 9:25.08 and Shelby County came in sixth with a time of 9:27.77.

For Chelsea in the first girls 60-meter dash finals, Tamarah Rice came in seventh with a time of 8.22 seconds and Callie Wright finished in eighth with a time of 8.23 seconds.

In the second girls 400-meter dash finals, Bray came in fifth with a time of 58.16 seconds. The first final saw Pelham’s Monica Pettway finish in sixth with a time of 1:02.96 and Shelby County’s Jane Matthew Reed come in seventh with a time of 1:03.45.

In the first girls 60-meter hurdles finals, Pelham’s Emma Grace Howard came in fifth place with a time of 10.00 seconds, while Chelsea’s Addison Foster finished in seventh with a time of 10.29 seconds.

The first girls high jump final saw Howard come in sixth and Chelsea’s Emma Raines McGough after both finished with a top height of 4-10.00. Pelham’s Sofia Ballesteros came in eighth with a mark of 4-06.00.
