PELHAM – A Bessemer resident was recently arrested and charged with breaking into multiple cars in Pelham.

On July 14, Nay’tese Omarion Taylor purportedly broke into four cars in Pelham: a 2004 Honda Accord, a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu, a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe and a 2021 Jeep Cherokee.

Police reports indicate that Taylor stole a Glock 9mm from the 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe and a Taurus Millenium pistol from the 2021 Jeep Cherokee. Taylor then stole a 2007 Cadillac with an estimated value exceeding $2,500.

Taylor was officially arrested on Oct. 23, roughly two months after his crimes were committed, and is now being detained at Shelby County Jail in Columbiana on the following charges:

-Four counts of Breaking and Entering a vehicle.

-One count of first-degree theft of property for the theft of the Cadillac.

-Two counts of second-degree theft of property for the two guns stolen.

As the value of the Cadillac Taylor allegedly stole is said to be over $2,500, he is being charged with first-degree theft of property, which is a class B felony in the state of Alabama. If convicted, Taylor could face anywhere from two to 20 years of jail time on that charge alone.

At the moment, Taylor is being held on a bond of $120,000, and a date for his trial has yet to be set. This investigation is ongoing, and details will be released as they become available.
