Chelsea Park Elementary School is closing early Thursday afternoon due to a busted water main.

School officials are asking parents to pick up students as soon as possible since the school has no running water, according to Shelby County Schools spokeswoman Cindy Warner.

Since it’s so late in day, buses will run their normal schedule this afternoon, Warner said. Chelsea Park’s after-school program has been canceled.

The school is expected to open Friday morning.

More than 730 students attend Chelsea Park Elementary.
