Shelby County students named UM “Senior Elite”

Twelve Shelby County students were recognized as “Senior Elite” at the University of Montevallo’s 74th annual Elite Night program on Nov. 13. These students include Amiee Marsalis of Calera, Keith J. Thomas and James Cowan of Helena, Erin Aslin and Ashli Brooke Pettit of Montevallo, Kyle Beason, Claire McCall, Richard McMullins, Samatha Morrison, Thu Pham and Britney Young of Pelham and Casey Pate from Wilsonville.
The distinction of “Senior Elite” is the highest honor bestowed by an academic department at UM. The faculty in each major selects their “Senior Elite” in recognition of exceptional leadership and outstanding academic achievement.
Marsalis was selected from the retail merchandising program, Thomas from kinesiology and Pate from early childhood education, all in the College of Education. Cowan was chosen from the management information systems program in the College of Business. Beason was chosen from the accounting program, also in the College of Business. Aslin was selected from the music education program in the College of Fine Arts. Pettit was chosen from the social work program, McCall from mathematics, McMullins from psychology, Morrison from speech pathology, Pham from chemistry and Young from history, all in the College of Arts and Sciences.
