The Shelby County Aviation Association will host its first ever Christmas party to benefit Calera Fire Department’s Annual Toy Drive on Dec. 5 at Shelby County Airport.
Association President Rick Kilgore invites guests to bring a toy or monetary donation in support of the drive. Festivities begin at 6 p.m.
Kilgore expects the catered event to draw 200 people.
“A Christmas party is a lot more fun when you give back,” Kilgore said. “We’re hoping to raise between $750 and $1,000.”
Kilgore said the party will feature antique airplanes and fire trucks from the 1920s and 30s. In addition, guests will encounter one of the most fame pilots in the world.
“The best pilot in the world, St. Nicholas, is going to show up,” Kilgore said. “It’s going to be a hoot.”
