Lt. Chris George of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office was one of 256 law enforcement officers who graduated from the FBI National Academy Program in Quantico, Va. Dec. 12.

The 235th Session of the National Academy consisted of men and women from all 50 states. The class also included members of law enforcement agencies from Washington, D.C., 26 countries, four military organizations and four federal civilian organizations.

Internationally known for its academic excellence, the National Academy offers 11 weeks of advanced investigative, management and fitness training for selected officers having proven records as professionals within their agencies. On average, the officers have 19 years of law enforcement experience and usually return to agencies to serve in executive level positions.

George has worked at the sheriff’s office since 1997 and was sworn is as a deputy in 1999. He holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration and a master’s degree in business administration from Columbia Southern University. George is currently assigned to the uniform division.
