Young, Slaughter named Volleyball All-Stars

Pelham juniors Lindsey Young and Ally Slaughter have been selected to serve as setters on the South team for the North-South Volleyball All-Star game to be played July 16 in Huntsville.
The duo helped lead the Pelham Panthers to a 60-5 record and runner-up finish in Class 6A.
Young led the Panthers with 90 aces and 1,542 set assists in 62 matches. She was third in digs with 321 and fourth in kills with 141. She also had 46 blocks. Slaughter was third in kills with 395 in 62 matches and second in aces with 61. She had 51 blocks on the year.
The game will be played as part of the 13th annual Alabama All-Star Sports Week in Huntsville, July 13-17. The volleyball game will be played July 16 at the University of Alabama-Huntsville at 2 p.m.
The South team will be coached by Jessica Rapier of Faith Academy and Jennifer Newton of Cottage Hill Christian. Amy Rachel of Eclectic Middle School in Elmore County will serve as administrative coach.

Wendy Rucker of Madison Academy and David Clark of Jacksonville will coach the North, while Sue Marshall of Randolph will serve as administrative coach.
