Alfred Donald Horton of Columbiana passed away June 13 at 11:08 a.m. after he was contracted to perform tree maintenance at a Kingdom community residence, according Shelby County Sheriff Capt. Ken Burchfield.

According to the release, Shelby County 911 received a call requesting emergency assistance in reference to an injured person on Shelby County 77 in the Kingdom community. When deputies arrived on the scene, they found Horton’s body pinned between two fallen trees.

It is believed Horton suffered fatal injuries after being pinned between the trees, and his death is believed to be accidental, the press release stated.
