ALABASTER – Seth Gandy announced he will run for the Alabaster City Council Ward 6 seat in this upcoming election.
“Alabaster is a special place for my family and me,” Gandy said. “My wife, Jessica, and I grew up in Alabaster and both of us attended Thompson. After college I returned and coached high school baseball there. We are truly blessed that our children have the opportunity to grow up in Alabaster. That’s one of the reasons I’m running for City Council as well as to help ensure that Alabaster continues to be the wonderful community it is. I am also looking forward to meeting people and hearing what their priorities are.”
Seth has spent the last nine years working for the city of Calera as the Parks and Recreation Director, and Jessica is a high school counselor at Calera. They have a daughter, Alannah, who is 3 years old and a son, Jackson, who is 9 months old.
Gandy said his priorities include:
- Promote responsible residential and commercial growth.
- Build the infrastructure to support the growth.
- Increase student learning by supporting Alabaster City Schools.
- Improve quality of life through the support of the parks and recreation department in order to connect the greenway trails, build a recreation center and offer more special events and classes.
“I believe my time working in a municipality setting has given me the skills and an understanding of how to get things done,” Gandy said. “If elected, I will work hard to make Alabaster a city we can continue to be proud of.”
