ALABASTER – Stacy Rakestraw announced her re-election campaign to the Alabaster City Council Ward 3.

“I have enjoyed serving the city of Alabaster on the City Council and representing Ward 3,” Rakestraw said. “Watching the city continue to grow in the areas of education with our young city school system, our industrial parks, medical achievements and partnership with the hospital, as well as economic development have been a pleasure. I am excited to announce I am running for re-election for City Council, Ward 3 this year.”

During her time on the Council, Rakestraw has focused on making Alabaster a clean, effective and economically robust community.

“I am proud to be part of the team that implements our annual Clean Sweep each April,” she said. “This event has encouraged many citizens, young and old, to serve by picking up litter on city roadways, educating children in our schools about littering and what to do with trash, as well as growing our exciting Shred-It and E-Cycle event.”

Rakestraw has also been an advocate for best practices, training and retention and recruitment of city employees.

“It is important to me that we have the best city services, and that requires the best city employees. We have been able to offer merit raises, hire a professional human resource staff, and be selective in our approach to who we hire. This means that our citizens have the best services by the best professionals,” she said.

She has also been an advocate for new partnerships in the community that highlight the economic force of the medical community in Alabaster.

“The partnership with Brookwood Shelby Baptist Hospital and The Warrior Foundation to create and host the Alabaster Health Fair has become a fantastic event for our residents and those in surrounding cities and counties to experience a stress-free and casual environment to meet local medical professionals and ask questions, plus the opportunity to learn more about the county and state services provided to residents. Highlighting our great medical community has been a privilege,” Rakestraw said.

Rakestraw is an advocate for schools, clean roads and a safe community.

“During this next term, I would like to see us increase our council reserve account, update our salary pay grades to meet the recent salary study, complete our Justice Center, and expand our outdoor recreational facilities and trails, as well as an indoor recreational center,” she said.

Rakestraw is married to Kyle and is the mother of three children: Jake, Faith and Savanna.
