HARPERSVILLE — A free drive-thru COVID-19 testing clinic will be held Tuesday, June 30 at Harpersville City Hall from 8-11 a.m.

The Shelby County Health Department has announced that the testing will be available only while supplies last, so availability at any specific time is not guaranteed.

Anyone who meets the criteria may be tested; participants are not required to be residents of the city of Harpersville. Appointments are not needed, as patients will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis.

“All persons meeting testing criteria are encouraged to participate in this free opportunity,” stated a press release from Shelby County Emergency Management.

Patients must meet the following criteria:

• The patient is asymptomatic and in a high-risk group, OR the patient is symptomatic with a minimum (measured or subjective) fever or cough or shortness of breath AND
• The patient is immunocompromised or has co-morbidities
• Or the patient is age 65 or older
• Or the patient is a healthcare worker
• Or the patient is associated with a longterm healthcare facility
• Or the patient has symptoms that are moderate, severe or worsening (10 years old and older).

The clinic will be the second of its kind to be held in the area; a similar clinic was held in Vincent on June 11.
