HELENA – Helena United Methodist Church is set to hold a virtual vacation bible school from July 13-17.

Like many churches and organizations there was some uncertainty on how to provide services like these for children while also maintaining proper safety measures due to the outbreak of COVID-19. According to Cynthia Dooley, Helena UMC Children’s Director, this virtual VBS will do just that.

“The theme is ‘Little bugs Big impact, Big and Small God Uses Us All.’” Dooley explained. “A group of 25-30 children’s ministry leaders in the United Methodist North Alabama Conference have been working together for the past month to create a unique VBS for our kids.”

The theme of the VBS is to show children through lessons, projects and games that they can have a big impact on the world around them.

The VBS will be free to all who want to participate, and will feature “bible stories, games, science experiment, crafts, music, missions and snack ideas for each day,” according to Dooley.

There will also be a lives tream worship service that will feature some of the artwork and projects children will be doing during the VBS.

The virtual VBS was created by the United Methodist North Alabama Conference as a response to concerns over the COVID-19 epidemic, and how to protect children while also providing them with fun spiritual lessons over the summer.

Once parents have registered their kids, they will receive all of the information they need to make sure their children are prepared for the event. The supply list will be emailed to parents on June 18.
