Miss Junior Teen United States Angel Lynn Maddox has planned a prom event to give students an experience they may have missed out on—and to benefit cancer research.
Maddox, an Alabaster resident, said she and her mother thought of organizing the event.
“Most proms are getting canceled, so my mom and I came together and we decided to host a prom,” Maddox said.
The 2020 Vision Prom is scheduled for 7-11 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, and proceeds will benefit cancer research through Maddox’s Hands of Hope platform.
Tickets are on sale now for the event, which will be held at Hyatt Regency Birmingham – The Wynfrey Hotel.
Tickets are $50 each for individuals or $90 for couples.
“If you want to go, get your tickets now before they’re all gone,” Maddox said. “You can have an amazing time but also be doing something for a great cause.”
While focused on high school juniors and seniors, freshmen and sophomores may also attend if the date of a junior or senior.
Tickets are non-refundable and can be purchased at Checkout.square.site/buy/BIDGKEY73PE5JFL5LSOHUS2A.
“We will not cancel this event,” Maddox said. “If we have to push it back, we will just reschedule it.”
The event will also benefit small businesses, some of whom depend on revenue from prom season.
Bella’s Bridal and Formals, and The Clothes Tree by Deborah are offering a 10-percent discount off any prom dress to anyone who purchases a ticket to the 2020 Vision Prom.
Proof of ticket purchase must be presented to receive the discount.
Beverage concessions will be available at the event, and photography/spray tan packages will be offered.
Vj’s Mobile Airbrush Tanning is the sponsored tanning company.
Victor James Photography is the official prom photographer.
Photo packages will be $30 and include two shots—either a single shot, date shot or group shot. Photos can be purchased directly from Victor James Photography or ordered at the venue with cash.
Custom T-shirts will be $20 each and need to be ordered at least two weeks before the prom date to ensure attendees can receive them at the prom.
There will be two T-shirt colors to choose from.
A special package deal will be offered for $60 that includes a photo package and two T-shirts.
